While the kids are away…mom needs to play..

Hey there ! Terri here ! In a lil coffee shop that I frequent (Coffee + Cream in Westland, MI) enjoying some guilt free alone time. Ok, I know what you’re thinking.

“Terri! How could you be enjoying yourself without your kid !?” At least that’s what my kid would say lol.

As a mom, I am on autopilot majority of the time! With that being said I try to take full advantage of every ounce of alone time I get. Let’s be honest, there is no such thing when kids are around (not even when you’re on the toilet taking the kids to the pool).

So….whenever my kid is at a sleepover or in today’s case, a birthday party, I like to have a little subtle fun by myself.

Here are my top 5 alone time activities:

  1. Nap. - I mean come on. Who doesn’t love a good uninterrupted nap ? I wake up feeling like a new woman!

  2. Go to a quaint coffee shop or café. - The vibes are usually extra chill. A great way to relax and enjoy food (that you don’t have to share lol). And if you’re feeling adventurous, try a different place each time!

  3. Go have a drink at the bar. - Nothing like getting baby buzz and enjoying a few apps. However, don’t get carried away. Drinking and driving is bad.

  4. Read a good book.- I don’t know about other moms, but my reading is always interrupted by a thousand questions. This is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and allow your mind to escape.

  5. Clean up. - I know what you’re thinking. “Why on Earth would you want to spend your alone time cleaning? Imagine….cleaning up and for just a couple hours…it stays clean! Its a magical feeling. Just trust me.

When those beautiful children are away, take that moment to take care of YOU! You are no good to them if you aren’t ok.
